Abstract
The stroke is accompanied by various sequelae, and requires comprehensive rehabilitation interventions. Accordingly, various music therapies based on neuro-rehabilitation are implemented, and studies to test their clinical effects are under way. In order to accomplish this, a total of twenty-four studies published from 1999 to 2020 in the Korean Citation Index were selected and analyzed. The analysis was based on overall characteristics of music intervention studies for stroke patients, the level of production of therapeutic rationales, and the therapeutic rationale of music used throughout these studies. The results were as follows: First, it was found that music intervention studies were focused more on physical rehabilitation, whereas cognitive rehabilitation was limited. Second, as the need for evidence-based studies in music intervention has emerged, the level of the production of therapeutic rationale has gradually increased. Third, it restated the therapeutic principle and evidence on music in each literature. The results revealed the need to describe the specific application principle of 'how' and 'why' the details of the music are therapeutic. This study demonstrated the importance of objective directional intervention, and provided rationales of objectives domains to professional music therapists and the researcher for stroke patients based on music.
